Established in 1987, DWP Harvesting is a timber marketing co-operative with more than 40 estates and farms in Membership across the North and North East of Scotland, from Perthshire to Morayshire. The expanding Membership currently produces over 35,000 tonnes of timber a year from forests and woodlands extending to over 12,000 hectares. Output includes SAW LOGS, PALLET LOGS, FENCING SPECIFICATIONS, CHIPWOOD and BIOMASS for the UK market plus PULPWOOD for export to paper mills in Sweden and Finland.
In July 2014 RTS Forestry joined forces with DWP Harvesting’s Marketing and Managing Director, Andrew Nicol, who has managed the group since it was first established. This welcome development gives Members access to an established team of forest managers committed to developing the scope and breadth of the DWP Membership.
DWP Harvesting maximises the short and long term profitability of Members forests and woodlands by the planning and management of a comprehensive, integrated harvesting programme and regular contact with sawmills and timber processors.
Member Benefits include the economy of scale for Member Services plus representation of forestry and woodland interests at a both local and national level. This ensures the continuity of commercial production that is based on a sustainable, quality environment.
